HE IS RISEN INDEED ALLELUIA!
It is hard to believe that so many of us celebrated Easter a mere 17 days ago! Since then, I took our family (including my soon to be 80 year old mother – again hard to believe!), away for break in North Wales including my first Sunday off this year. As such, having missed what is traditionally called ”Low Sunday”, but which in actual fact I’m told was a really inspirational service "led by the people for the people” – strangely I was a bit apprehensive at returning, feeling a bit out of the habit 13 days after having last been in church. However, I’m glad to report that it was (and is) good to be back.
We looked together at John’s gospel and the claim of Jesus to be our "Living Bread”, where the setting most appropriately was a communion service. Indeed I believes we all need the support and nourishment that Jesus offers us, directly, and through fellowship with one another. Please, if you find yourself away from our fellowship for a period of time, don’t leave it too long - we need each other!. In fact, we have more than one opportunity this coming weekend to meet up; for as well as our AGM on Sunday, where we have the opportunity to look back with thanks to God for the past year and look to Him for the future, a particular hope for our future will be showcased in church on the Saturday - namely the unveiling of our refurbishment plans for our building. Do join us for both or either, Saturday 12 - 2pm and Sunday 10.45 ending with a Bring and Share lunch.
Last Sunday also found us commissioning and praying for Richard Young, as he spent his last service with us before being inducted as Rector of Holy Innocent’s Fallowfield (Tuesday 24th 7.30pm - all welcome!). It was a fun and moving occasion, ending with a blessing that Richard had for us all. I can think of no better words with which to close.
let him lead you each day into the quiet space of your heart
where he will speak with you:
know that he loves you and watches over you -
that he listens to you in gentle understanding, that he is with you always,
wherever you are and however you may feel
and the blessing of God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
be yours for ever.
