Sorry this is coming to you a bit late this week. A short lived battle with a virus delayed me a little bit but with so many of us away at the moment I didn't want to miss the chance to touch base.
It's been a little weird in church over the last few weeks, we've been really thin on the ground. Although it's mostly been for good reasons - travelling to see family and friends, travelling for days out locally or further afield, travelling for holidays. Last week in church, we picked up that travelling theme as we thought about Jesus being the way to the Father. For centuries people have thought about the Christian faith as travelling through life with God.
Life is sometimes complicated with many options available of ways to go but Jesus makes the direction of travel clear, he says to follow him. We often make following him more complicated than it needs to be. Jesus does say some hard things at times but it all boils down to this: love God and love others (live God's love in the world). The ways in which we do that are going to look different depending on who God made us uniquely to be. So as you follow him don't forget he invites you to follow him just as you are.
One of the ways in church that we are trying to follow Jesus at the moment is through the Refurb project. Refurbishing a building often doesn’t feel like it has much to do with following Jesus but our hope is that it will help us to continue to live God’s love in the world and more importantly in this community as we seek to connect with and serve those who we live amongst.
Looking forward to catching up with you all in the morning. See you at 10:45am.
