Last Sunday at church, we concluded our series looking at the seven churches in Revelation, asking ourselves the question “what might the spirit be saying to the church @Brunswick”? We had spent time reflecting on the various roles that angels undergo throughout scripture, and noted that the letters in Revelation were actually addressed to “the angel” of the church of….
This led to speculation as to what our church’s angel might look like: what currently is God endorsing, and what might we being asked of us in the future? It was an exercise which offered encouragements as well as challenges - do have a look at the resulting display board the next time you are in church, and feel free to add your own thoughts, both concerning the work we are called to remain involved in, as well as what we might be encouraged to become in the future.
As summer continues, with a slightly different pace of life, I pray we may find time to be open to God and the various ways He might wish to meet with us, and perhaps be less hard on ourselves. G.K. Chesterton once quipped:
“Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly”
May we indeed be caught up with our heavenly Father, than some of the earthly things that threaten to drag us down..
