It's good to be back with you all after a bit of a break up North and to see so many of you yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon, I had the priveledge of baptising Tom. It was a bit different to how we normally do things here but it was still very special. Please continue to pray for Tom and his family that they would grow together in faith.
Baptism services are always a great time to reflect on our shared faith and the good news that we find in Jesus. Why not take a moment this morning to reflect on you own journey of faith as we stop together to Pause, Ponder and Pray.
Take a moment now to recognise that you are in the presence of God. It might help to slow your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Let’s say together:
The Lord is here, his Spirit is with us.
Let’s share together in the family prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Today’s reading is Colossians 1:1-6a, 2:6-7
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the saints and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ in Colossae:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father. In our prayers for you we always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. You have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth, the gospel that has come to you. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
- If Paul was writing about our church, what do you think he would say that we are known for?
- What do you think it means to live your life rooted in Christ?
- What is Jesus saying to you today?
Father God, thank you for the hope that we have in you. Help me to stay rooted in faith today and always. Amen.
Today we pray for the whole church family.
On our church list today we pray for:
Hope Mumbejjah; Nathan Senfuma
Let’s finish by praying the grace:
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all, now and evermore. Amen.
