It might be raining outside but there's been lots of good news to brighten up my week. Keep an eye out for a big announcement coming soon!!
Come rain or shine, God is always good. Let's take a moment to worship him as we stop together to pause, ponder and pray.
Take a moment now to recognise that you are in the presence of God. It might help to slow your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Let’s pray together:
Give us the joy of your saving help
and sustain us with your life-giving Spirit.
We say together our family prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Today’s reading is Acts 15:36-41
After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Come, let us return and visit the believers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. But Paul decided not to take with them one who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not accompanied them in the work. The disagreement became so sharp that they parted company; Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus. But Paul chose Silas and set out, the believers commending him to the grace of the Lord. He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
How do you handle disagreements with fellow believers?
Does it encourage or discourage you that Paul and Barnabas had such a public and serious falling out? Why?
What is Jesus saying to you today?
Father God, thank you that you continue to work with us and through us even when we struggle to agree. Help me to listen well and to find ways to work well with those I disagree with. Amen
Say a prayer today for those trying to guide the church through contentious issues.
On our church list today we pray for:
Alison, Michelle and Claudine and Malique
Dilu, Anna, Daniella and Danet Varughuse
Let’s finish by praying this blessing:
May the almighty and merciful Lord,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless us and keep us.
