It is a welcome sunny start to our bank holiday weekend and I hope you are having fun whatever you are doing. On today's agenda in the Davis household is getting the last bit of school uniform before term starts again next week. For those who have been out of school since March it is a strange time filled with anticipation and nervousness. Please do remember teachers, teaching assistants, school staff, children and parents in your prayers as they prepare to return.
Don't forget to check your email for the service pack for tomorrow if you've not already seen it. We'll be on Zoom as usual this week at 10:45am. We'll also be celebrating communion at 9am in the building for those who wish to come.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Take a moment now to recognise that you are in the presence of God. It might help to slow your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Let’s proclaim together:
We are in the presence of God
who knows our needs,
hears our cries,
feels our pain,
and heals our wounds.
We say together our family prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Today’s reading is Psalm 131:1-2
O Lord, my heart is not lifted up,
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.
In what ways do you calm and quieten your soul?
How do you respond to the image of God as a mother?
What is Jesus saying to you today?
Father God, thank you that you are tender towards us like a mother with a young child. Help me to rest in you. Amen
Pray for all who struggle to find peace.
On our church list today we pray for:
Alex, Lee and Nicky Ellis
Angelina, Didi and Alicia
Let’s finish by praying this blessing:
May the Lord bless us and watch over us,
the Lord make his face shine upon us
and be gracious to us,
the Lord look kindly on us and give us peace
