I am still on annual leave so Simon is sending this out for me. I'll be back with you all tomorrow ready to share a few thoughts.
Take a moment now to recognise that you are in the presence of God. It might help to slow your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Let’s pray together the ancient prayer:
Maranatha. Come, Lord Jesus.
We say together our family prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Today’s reading is Mark 4:26-29
He also said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come.”
This is one of a series of parables that are recorded in this part of Mark’s gospel.
- What might scattering the seed of the gospel look like in the places where we are placed?
- What signs of Kingdom growth are you seeing / looking out for?
- What is Jesus saying to you today?
Father God, help me to know how to communicate the good news of your kingdom through my life and to trust you with its growth. Amen.
Say a prayer today for the places where you might spread the gospel.
On our church list today we pray for:
Henry Phillips, Meseret Resoum
Let’s finish by praying this blessing:
To our troubled world: peace from Christ.
To our searching world: love from Christ.
To our waiting world: hope from Christ.
