Happy Wednesday. You may or may not know but we are currently in the church season of creationtide (1st Septempber - 4th October) so why not get out today and enjoy some of God's beautiful creation. This season is a time when we are encouraged to specifically think about the impact that we have on creation and how caring for creation is part of our expression of faith. Perhaps today you might also want to think of one small change you could make to care for our environment.
Today's pause, ponder and pray is sent on behalf of Simon.
Mark this time as one set aside for God by focusing on your breathing.
Count to 5 as you breathe in, hold your breath for another 5, and then exhale slowly again counting to 5.
You might want to think about the things you want to receive from God: holding a word in your mind as you breathe in, and equally share with Him a word concerning something particular that you want to hand over and leave with Him (perhaps a worry, care, concern or failing) when you breathe out.
“Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:4-5
How easy is it for you to built into a “spiritual house” with others? - what might this look like?
Is the calling to be a priesthood only for special people or everybody?
"Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference."

Make the invitation found in the bible reading today a prayer for yourself
Pray for those preparing to return to school tomorrow
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy.
Sustain and support the anxious,
be with those who care for the sick,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may find comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
