A Royal Priesthood

22/6/2022

Dear friends,

Today, I wanted to share with you, what I have been reading and reflecting, some words from The Ordinal as well. What is the meaning to become a priest. I been fasting and praying not just for my ordination but for everyone who got that privilege and responsibilities from God to serve Him and His people. Ordination is not something that someone achieves. Rather, one is called to ordination – called by God and called by a community. While there is indeed a lot of work involved, at the end of the day, ordination is never earned. It is a gift and a sign from God. This is not an easy calling and there are no simple answers just trust in the Lord who knows the best and carry-on serving God with smile.

The Ordination of Priests God calls his people to follow Christ, and forms us into a royal priesthood, a holy nation, to declare the wonderful deeds of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light. The Church is the Body of Christ, the people of God and the dwelling-place of the Holy Spirit. In baptism the whole Church is summoned to witness to God's love and to work for the coming of his kingdom. To serve this royal priesthood, God has given particular ministries. Priests are ordained to lead God's people in the offering of praise and the proclamation of the gospel.

I will end with two requests; one please pray for me and my family. So, we will serve our God all the days of our lives. As it says in Joshua 24:15 “…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Secondly below I am sharing with you one of my heart favourite songs that I known since I said yes to the Lord.

"Here I Am, Lord"  also known as "I, the Lord of Sea and Sky" after its opening line, is a Christian hymn written by the American composer of Catholic liturgical music Dan Schutte in 1979 and published in 1981. Its words are based on Isaiah 6:8 and 1 Samuel 3:4.

Please read this song slowly and prayerfully.

I hope you will enjoy this with lots of God's blessings and the sunshine.

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have born my peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them, They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak My word to them,
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,
My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide,
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them,
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart

Lots of love and blessings.

Rev Kathreen Shahbaz
