We're going Solar! Here's how.
Brunswick church is taking part in an exciting scheme to install solar panels onto 20 community buildings around Manchester. A Community Benefits Society called 'Community Energy Greater Manchester' has been set up to finance the installation of solar panels on all of the buildings – including Brunswick - through issuing shares in the company. The idea is to help community organisations interested in having solar panels to improve energy efficiency and tackle fuel poverty but lacking the finance and capacity to develop them on their own. So we are all working together, making an environmental statement and hoping to get the benefit of cheaper electricity. Each organisation can also buy some of the shares in the CBS and get an income from them. How many we as a church buy depends on how much we can raise. Our initial target is £3000. This is the first fruits of our longer-term Refurb project.
If you would like to help us, visit our page on the CEGM website where donations can be made online. For more on how the scheme works, have a look at the about page. We will also be doing some fundraising (with the emphasis on FUN) after later in the year. all ideas, however wacky, are welcome! Let's do this together and benefit our community and the environment.
Solar Stroll: On Sunday May 1 we went on an all-age mini-sponsored walk. More...
Cake Sale: On Sunday June 5 there was an amazing array of goodies produced for our solar cake bake sale. Thanks to everyone who took part (baking, buying, selling, eating).
