Dear friends and families,
Hope you all are doing well with your Lent promises, On the 7th of March we celebrated my special saint day for Saints Perpetua and Felicity they both were Christian martyrs who lived during the early persecution of the Church in Africa by Emperor Severus.
Every time I read or watch them, they always encouraged me. so, I was thinking to share and encourage you all as well. Perpetua and Felicity were part of a group of five catechumens apprehended in Carthage in 203AD. for the practice of the faith. Perpetua was a well-educated twenty-two-year-old married mother with a nursing infant, and Felicity was her servant, herself seven months pregnant. Together they and their companions were imprisoned and roughly treated by the soldiers as they awaited their martyrdom.
No doubt, following the path of faith is not an easy task. As we know from Bible, our own experience, from others’ experiences, and from these two Saints Perpetua and Felicity. In the case of Saint Felicity and Saint Perpetua, following Jesus Christ was not an easy task as well. There was a lot of trouble in their life.

In the case of Saint Felicity and Saint Perpetua, following Jesus Christ was not an easy task as well. There was a lot of trouble in their life.
Saint Perpetua’s father punished her and kept her starving when he got to know that her daughter is following Jesus Christ. But she was fearless and wasn’t ashamed to accept it. There was also a time when she has been kept in prison with felicity and other members. Despite the troubledness to follow the path of Jesus Christ Perpetua, Felicity, and other companions refused to renounce their faith.
There are a lot of struggles in our life that we go through. There are a lot of steps of struggle that are covered with scratches and pains. No doubt we have a lot of complaints about it. But did Perpetua complain? The answer is No. For her, the prison has become a palace because she knew, and she had faith that God is with her, and He is fighting her battles. She listened to the voice of God. So, we also need to listen to the voice of God.
Instead of complaining about things, we need to thank God for what we all have as blessings. We also need to stand firm in faith and love one another. Because yes God is love and he is the perfect example of giving unconditional love to everyone. He sacrificed His life so that we can live eternal life. In this lent season let us spend some time watching this video about Saints Perpetua and Felicity.
Let’s reflect on what we sacrifice for the love of Christ we claim that we love God. Maybe disciplining our lives and sacrificing our bad habits which hurt God, hurts others, and hurts ourselves.
With lots of love and blessings,
Kathreen Shabaz
