Over the past nine weeks Brunswick Church (along with 6 other churches close to the city centre) opened its doors to provide a warm welcome, food and a bed for the night for some of the people sleeping rough on Manchester’s streets. We were proud to be part of the Greater Manchester Winter Night Shelter which has been a pilot project running since January in partnership with the Booth Centre that helps homeless people in the city centre. Our fantastic group of volunteers (who came from all walks of life and experiences) worked well together as a team socialising with the guests, cooking, cleaning and making sure the shelter ran smoothly each Monday night through into the morning. During their time with us some of our guests have been rehoused and a number have found jobs.
