Turns out we have dug up the remains of the old rectory from St Paul's – the church building Brunswick was built on the site of – maybe its cellar (still no interesting remains though). Whatever, it's going to need a lot more concrete than first reckoned to fill in before we can proceed. While interesting for some, this is an example of the sort of unforeseen hitch that can crop up on building projects that inevitably mean a bump in costs. We could do with no more of these!
