Preparing the room for our Community Christmas Meal. Mo and team once again going the extra mile for our guests. It's at 1pm to 4:30pm today with a Christmas dinner and musical entertainment. There are just a few places left – contact Mo to reserve your seat.
'Experience Christmas' is a special fun teaching session for primary school-age children where they get taken through the story of the first Christmas in a series of scenarios. Thanks to our team of volunteers.
A brilliant 'Sleeping Beauty' panto today at Brunswick. Big turnout at each of two shows, lots of fun and laughs. A huge thank you to the actors and staff of NWTAC and our sponsors Our Manchester and S4B, and a special thanks to our team of volunteers who stewarded, served refreshments and goodies... and cleared up afterwards. At this Sunday's service we said goodbye to our curate Kathreen and family, Shahbaz, Jeremiah and Joshua, as she moved on to lead her own church in... Gorton, which is just up the road! We prayed for God's blessing on them their new home and ministry, and then had our Bring and Share lunch together, with cake of course. Thank you Kathreen for all you have brought to us – that smile, that enthusiasm – for the last three years. You all have been much loved members of the Brunswick family (one which you never really leave). A date for your diaries. It's our annual Tearfund Big Quiz Night. Come along to Brunswick on Friday 15th November from 7pm for some fun fundraising for all the family.
With refreshments and prizes. As always, everyone welcome. Download a poster here. Yesterday at Positive Steps we held another of our 'Afternoon Tea with Music Quiz' events, which are fast gaining legendary status. Great food provided by Mo and team and a prize quiz on all (well, some) things musical ably led by Quizmaster Simon. Questions of varying ease and toughness, right through to the baffingly obscure (one correct answer was 'Radar Love', the only UK hit by Dutch band Golden Earring!) But lots of fun in good company, singing along with the hits, and a good preparation for our annual Tear Fund Big Quiz Night on 15th November (watch this space for more details soon).
This, and all that goes on at Positive Steps and Brunswick Church, are open to all. As part of our 50th year celebrations we have invited previous curates to come back to Brunswick as our guest speakers. Most recent was Richard Taylor, previously part of Brunswick 2000-2004, now a vicar in London. Richard shared about his memories and experience of Brunswick and what he has taken from his time here into his ministry since. He also preached as part of our series on the book of Job (not the easiest of tasks, but handled really well – notes available on request).
The Women's Footprints group had a great day out in Hebden Bridge on Monday. It was the final session of a four part project called "Try The Train" run by Northern Rail. Our facilitator, Lauren, helped us look at barriers to using the train, took us on a short trip to Piccadilly Station to familiarise us with it. Then we chose a place to visit and planned it together. So we ended up in Hebden Bridge on Monday – a beautiful place, lovely weather and great company. We also had lunch courtesy of Northern Rail! Thank you Northern Rail and Lauren and Sophia. Thank you, Mo, for setting it up. Women's Footprints meet every Monday morning as Part of Brunswick Church's Positive Steps Community Hub. New members always welcome. ![]() The theme for Black History Month this year is `Saluting Sisters'. If you know a woman of colour that has positively affected you (big or small), could you please write or record a short piece telling your story. The idea is that this will contribute to creating a booklet. Mo or Paul are happy to do the writing or recording. For more info send an email or call in at Positive Steps. |
